James Murphey (Brian Krause 飾)是個健壯的神秘動物學(xué)家，在去尼斯湖的途中遇見了傳說中的尼斯湖水怪樣的生物，它殺害了他父親，并在他臉上留下了深刻的疤痕。20年后，James追捕尼斯湖水怪，來到了蘇必利爾湖上的長矛島的睡眠鎮(zhèn)。他請了Josh Riley做他的導(dǎo)游，James和Josh對科學(xué)有共同的興趣，而且都失去了父親，所以成為了好朋友。James想讓Josh的媽媽Karen Riley治安官相信那個60尺的蛇頸怪正在殘害生靈。
